A team from Leadership Knoxville's Class of 2011 launched the Cribs for Kids Campaign as part of their legacy projects to benefit the McNabb Center's Healthy Families Program. Healthy Families provides first-time parents with the tools they need to start a healthy family. The program follows the family from pregnancy until the child is of school age. The voluntary home visitation program provides support and education through individual and group activities as well as a full range of case management services. The program often experiences a need to provide families with necessary items. It is often overwhelming for first-time parents to acquire everything they need to take care of their baby or to figure out the best products to use in a sea of options. Many items needed for babies are costly and require strict safety guidelines. Through listening to the needs of the Healthy Families staff, Leadership Knoxville identified that providing costly items such as cribs would alleviate a great financial burden that would allow staff to effectively serve more families.

The Helen Ross McNabb Center is in its 64th year of providing compassionate mental health care services in East Tennessee.  In 1948, the Center began as a child guidance clinic and has evolved through the years to become a multi-service regional, not-for-profit agency.  The Center currently operates in 16 counties, providing quality mental health care, addiction and co-occurring treatment, and recovery and social services for nearly 10,000 children, adults and families.  Our mission remains clear and simple:  "Improving the lives of the people we serve."
